Replacing two HWH kick-down jacks. Read the manual, doesn't say anything about bleeding the jacks. Says to cycle the jacks numerous times to work the fluid into the system.
But this is equivalent to a brake system, and failure to bleed the brakes can lead to 'bad things'. I can see a failure of the jack under weight as air in the lines compress.
I would say similar to a brake system but with much different components. You can bleed them by cracking loose the hydraulic lines at the cylinders but be prepared for a huge mess due to the fact that you cant control where the oil is going. imo follow the instructions in the manual with two cautions, keep fluid level in tank correct and don't get in a hurry. the motor that runs the hydraulic pump needs to cool down between each time you run jacks up or down or you will over heat it and ruin it.
