Pardon me for jumping in here, I do not have a murphy bed but was wondering if there were some method of locking it in the down position, either with a board or something in the hinges. A picture might help some of the more creative minds here come up with a suggestion.

Our TT was returned to the factory in Indiana (no cost to us) and had modifications done to improve locking bed in both down and up positions. A little explanation, our ETC-181 is small single axle TT and has the murphy positioned with the long side across the width of the TT. Our murphy bed comes down over the dinette. The factory added two latches on the side of the dinette and additional straps to double lock it in place. No problems now. At last years Intl FROG gathering one of the factory managers came over to check on our water heater. (put new element). He recalled our TT and told us they placed a young engineer on the bed and had it rotate into closed position and then waited to see if he could get out. No luck! They then made the mods above. FR responded quickly to our problem and I'm grateful but would have preferred it never shipped with this problem. Enjoy your murphy beds a great saver of space in smaller TT.
