Rodent damage

Camper was stolen and abandoned in woods. Sheriffs department recovered and had extensive damage. Rv repairman found a lot of wires chewed into in underbelly and is telling us he has no way of telling if wires in certain places have been chewed on and not completely into so insurance should total camper but the insurance adjuster is saying no they arenít going to total. We donít feel safe using the camper once we get it back knowing the possible danger. Is there anything I can do or tell the insurance adjuster to convince them to total so we can get another camper that we wonít be paranoid sleeping in with our family? Thanks for any help. 2018 flagstaff travel trailer

You should try to determine what if anything ti was used for while it was not in your possession. It may have been a meth lab and if so, you don't want it back.

Yeah....Iíd want to know what was going on during the time it was missing too.

How long between being stolen and then found?
Meth lab is one thing.
There could be mould in behind the walls from water damage not visible yet.
Iíd be getting a complete analysis done of the air/dampness inside.

Other than the wiring that can be eaten sitting in your driveway what is the over all condition of the Trailer? Is the interior trashed, busted up? Is the exterior smashed in, roof peeled off, AC units missing, side walls scraped? If the trailer is in overall good condition other than the wiring I would agree with the Insurance Adjuster, the Trailer can have the bottom dropped and inspected by somebody qualified to do so. The wiring for the most part can be replaced for way less than the cost of replacing the RV.

My first thought was meth lab because both butane bottles were empty and we had never used them but detectives determined that it wasnt

Exterior: sides scraped bad enough to take emblems and paint off underbelly cut, all compartment locks busted, door and frame bent and busted,, slide motors burnt up interior: Servpro cleaned for 4 days but smell is still horrible (smells of rodent urine and feces) all furniture ripped or soiled, leaking drain lines, signs of foam insulation particles everywhere in camper. Two main concerns are if wires could be chewed on in areas service department can’t get to and if they can get the smell out. Rv repair store are pricing all new furniture and linens in bid. Their bid is already 7400.00 without the furniture

Iím wondering how many RVs your adjuster has ever really worked on.
Your damage list sounds extensive.
Do you photos before and after?
Does the adjuster smell the apparent rodent damage?
Servpro finished?
Has the adjuster got all the pricing in.....exterior and interior?
These things canít be painted at Maaco.
Youíve listed a lot of parts....have you seen the price quotes to replace?
And......what year does he say heíll have it back for you to use?

Do you have access to an insurance company evaluation company to have another opinion made to even consider repair instead of replace?

No before pictures but he has seen pictures from rv repairman. He has not smelled the camper he is doing all of his work from a office. The repairman and ourselves have told him numerous times about the smell and he says he will send Servpro again. Yes I have a copy of repair estimate it is 7400.00 and some change and the repairman said it would be around 9500 to low 10000 with furniture that he was waiting on prices of. We don’t owe but 12800 on the camper. And no telling when we will get it back. We have already come to terms this summer is out of the question. This has been going on since Easter weekend

Youíve probably been with this insurance company since the beginning?
Tell him to get off his ***** and get out to site.
I still donít think anyone has come to grips as to how long if ever, before theyíll get the parts, paint and stink fixed.
This canít be done over the phone.
Be polite.....but it ďneeds to be run up the poleĒ as they say.

I think what kenandterry is trying to say if the agent won't get out of the office and visually inspect the damage, go over his head to his boss. If he's his own boss then contact the insurance company who actually holds the insurance policy. The agent does not back the policy, he's only a salesman, so to speak.
