We had our maiden voyage this past weekend and tried to figure out the Winguard Carryout. We were in trees but there was quite a bit of clear sky since the leaves aren't out yet but the Carryout just whined and buzzed without finding the satellites. When we got home, we tested it again and it did find the satellites. We went straight from the carryout to the sat receiver to the TV and did not use the coach wiring. I thought it'd do better than it did under the trees though.

I am a bit perplexed on how to get the signal to the receiver then to the TVs via the coach. I see no way to put the receiver inline either before or after the switch box. We have 3 choices: Antenna, Cable, Satellite on the box and silly me thought all I'd have to do was to run the sat cable in on the receiver then out to the switch box and flip it to Satellite. WRONG!

We do have a plate behind the box that has the on/off for the booster as well as a coax cable connection. I thought that was where I'd put the sat. receiver then run a cable to the box but there is no open connection on the box.

Is this the correct order?

Carryout>cable in>coax out>Sat. receiver>switch box>TV?

Seems simple but all 4 connectors on the back of the switch box have cables running in or out.

I read somewhere that some coaches that come with Sat prep have a connection on the roof but after crawling up to inspect, I didn't find anything that looked like it would work.

Am I right in thinking that since the switch box thingy has Satellite/Aux as an option, the correct wiring for the sat should already be installed?

I can't find anything in the manuals that give any hints!

Couple of things,

Before you go use this site to get your settings, Satellite Finder / Dish Pointing Calculator with Google Maps | DishPointer.com then use a compass at the camp ground to get a rough setup, get an in line signal meter ($12.00) to fine tune the setting, saves running in/out, Sf-95 Satellite Signal Finder with backlit display*::*Satellite Meters*::*Signal Level Meters*::*InstallerOasis.com.

next, i do not quite get your wiring description (picture of switch box may help),

Carryout>cable in>coax out>Sat. receiver>switch box>TV?

I would think the sequence would be; Carryout, cable in, cable out, switch box, Sat receiver, TV.

Test; put the signal meter in line between the carryout and the cable in, get a strong signal. disconnect the signal meter (careful not to move carryout). take signal meeter in attach behind switch box and adjust switch setting until you get signal, if no signal more meter in front of switch box and test.

Also the Installer Oasis has a good FAQ and help area. Let us know what happens.

I finally got some pics of the switch box and other TV related things. I still can't work out how to get the sat receiver in the mix!

Here is the switch box, front & back and whatever that thing is below the outlets. There is also a cable connection, 12v connection & an on/off button for the booster on the back of the cabinet.

I just don't see anyway to add the sat receiver.
