Stab Jacks on 2011 Puma 30DBSS

I feel that the stab jacks on my Puma trailer are mounted incorrectly. The dealer tells me they are correct but after using them for 10 nights or so one of the brackets has bent. What I think is incorrect is the fact that the stab jacks are not mounted directly under the trailer frame. They are mounted to a piece of steel that is welded onto the frame and offset to one side of the frame. Every chance I got all summer I looked at how stab jacks were mounted and didn't find any mounted like mine are. My plan is to replace the jacks and mount them directly under the frame.
Has anyone else had this problem?

This is where mine are mounted, can't say that I have had any problems with them. You mentioned the bracket bent, how much tension are you putting on them? I usually drop them to the ground and then give them an additional quarter turn.

I probably did put too much pressure on it when it bent but I didn't think the wimpy crank handle could put that much pressure on them.

I was also surprised that I could not get the trailer very stable even with lots of pressure on the stab jacks. My parents have a 25'Jayco travel trailer that is MUCH more stable than mine is. Later in the season I added some X-Chocks wheel chocks and that has helped the situation some but it still isn't as good as my parents trailer without any wheel chocks.

Yea, tightening them down hard really doesn't add any additional stability. I think mounting them parallel to the the trailer frame might help, but who knows. I too added X-chocks and found they helped some.

Does having them welded on vs bolted make them more stable?
