Step Won't stay out

Can anyone tell me how to get the step to stay out when the door is closed at a sight?

What type of camper do you have (i.e. TT, MH). In our Georgetown there's a panel to the right of the door which has 3 switches. Exterior light, Battery Disconnect and an override switch for the stairs. The override switch is designed to keep the stairs out when the door is closed.

I assume you're talking about a motorhome? Most TT and 5er steps aren't motorized and are just always out when you flip them down.

You might get more traction on your question in the subforum for your motorhome's brand.

Might help if you post details about your rig. I even looked at your profile and it has no information. This makes it hard to even give a suggestion.

When i first read the title I thought it said "She won't stay out ".
Now that I understand the situation, I agree, there is a switch somewhere on the automatic steps. Like Jmsx2 said, it's usually at the bottom of a cabinet within reaching distance from outside.

That's funny! Our Georgetown is a 328TS. Our panel is against the wall to the right as you walk into the Coach! AquaMan is correct as some Coaches the switch is to the left on a cabinet.

Pretty simple process. Flip the switch to override the steps to stay out.

If Lippert steps; step power switch "OFF". If Kwikee steps; step power switch "ON".

I just got to my coach I switched to step switch off and the step went in, but stayed in when I opened the door

Sounds like it's hooked up backwards. Haven't seen one yet that would stay in with the switch.

Sounds like it could be a door magnetic switch issue. Lippert steps normally closed/Kwikee steps normally open.

I would of though that the switch was a breaker type switch cutting power to the step

There are some owners that are very familiar with the step operation.

There are normally two modes. In one mode the steps open and close when the door opens and closes. There is a small magnet on the door and a sensor that detects the door position. However, if the engine running or in some cases even the key is in the ignition, it will prevent this from happening and the steps will always open and close, regardless of the step switch position. There is a feed from the ignition to the steps that makes this happen.

Check for a blown 5amp fuse in the Battery Disconnect Box.

I can't find the fuse I found a25 amp fuse in the fuse box beside the drivers area
