Sunseeker

Just tested my heat in my Sunseeker 2900 for the first time, seemed to work fine, untill my smoke dectector went off. Is this a normal thing because the unit is new, or should I be concerned?? I'm gonna try the heat again tomorrow and open up the windows.

It is most likely due to dust near the burner. Just like when you first start your heater at home after the summer is over. If this is the case it will burn off and clear up. Did you smell a slight burnt smell when the alarm went off?

I could smell that "new heat smell", could be dust. I haven't got to retest it yet. I will post after I try it again.

I tried the heat again, smoke alarm went off. I aired out the coach and the alarm stopped and did not go off again (thank God)!

being a new unit, it was more the oils on the metal than dust. let it run for awhile and it will go away. after this everytime you start it up after siting for awhile it will burn off the dust.
