Surge Guard vs Progressive surge protector

I'm a newbie too. Did some searches before posting here. Is there a difference between the Surge Guard & Progressive surge protector? do they both do the same?

When I go to camp, I plug in the surge protector, then my camper to it, then what do I do? Just start turning on things (AC, etc.)?

Also, these protectors are expensive...how does one secure the device to the outlet? I know they make a plastic box with a lock, but plastic can be broken into.

I have the Progressive 50amp portable unit. As you mentioned, you would plug the surge supressor into the outlet, plug your rig into the supressor, turn on the circuit breakers and you are good to go. You can then power on anything that is needed. I secure mine with a cable bike lock that I purchased. The surge supressor has a metal tab around the plug wire that has a hole in it. I put the cable through the hole in the metal tab and around the power pedestal. The surge supressor has alerted me twice in the past 8 months about the campground power. One time it was when the power was only 104 volts(too low to run air conditioners) and most recently that the power output frequency was low. Both times it was at very good campgrounds.

If away from your camper and the campground power is too low and the AC is running, what will happen?

Surge supressor is supposed to shut down the power when it gets below a certain voltage- I believe if it is below 104volts. Also, should shut down when there are other serious AC problems.

Isn't there a difference between a surge protector and a surge supressor? I think one protects surges, and the other regulates. I don't know.

As far as I know, both terms are interchangeable. May be wrong but I have been using the 2 terms to mean the same thing.
