SW6DE water heater question
I fired up my water heater for the first time tonight. I just finished installing a new fresh water tank and flowjet sensor pump. They work awesome! The propane works great to heat up the water; however, I cannot get the on/off switch to move to the "on" position on the outside access panel. It will not even move. I have tried pushing really hard. Is there a model w/o the electrical element, but still has the switch installed...just deactivated? The pin is also removed from the "on" side...I presume this pin makes sure the electric element is no accidentally turned on when the tank is empty. Any ideas?

These switches have a tendency to corrode and stick in position- either off or on.
Mine is stuck on.
There was a discussion here recently about it. Try spraying it with wd40 and then
push HARD. Might even try tapping it with a screwdriver handle.
Finally- if you are unable to get it on, you'll have to replace it.
It's a pretty simple job.
JUST BE SURE THE POWER IS OFF.
You can probably stick a small thin blade screw driver under one end of the
switch and get it to pop out of the hole.
Replacements can be bought at many RV parts counters or possibly even Radio Shack.

I guess I'm fortunate. The switch for the electric water heater is in the kitchen. It switches one way to the heater, the other way to the microwave.
Not sure the WH electric works, though. It pops the breaker on my home hook-up because it's only a regular 15A circuit, but it popped a 30A breaker on the pedestal at a CG we were at in September.
Another project for the off-season!

WD40 and a good hard push got it to move. Electric element works!
Thanks. I was always taught never to force things...but sometimes you have nothing too loose:-)
