Thetford 36765 Exterior Shower Repair

Went to give the dogs a bath while camping this week using the exterior shower. Low and behold it sprays and leaks at the head going up out of the faucet (the connection to the spray hose). It looks as though it is a freeze crack or something. But I know for sure that it had -50 RV antifreeze run through it as the pink fluid was in the hose when I first turned it on. So I'm a little mystified as to how this happened. Is this repairable I wonder? Anyone ever had this happen. I guess I can try Gorilla glue as a repair. A new unit is about $70 to $80 bucks. Ideas anyone?

Mine done that on my old TT and there was a vacuum breaker that had gone bad and caused it to leak like it was busted. directly out of the top of the faucet where the hose connects. Unscrew your hose from the faucet and there should be a small black rubber vacuum breaker down in there or could be a small plastic cartridge that has a vacuum breaker in it. I had to get a new faucet because I couldn't get a replacement vacuum breaker for my model.

Thanks! That's exactly where it is leaking. Did you replace just the faucet or the whole shower box?

Just the faucet. If I can remember correctly it cost just under $20.00 from my local dealer. Very simple to change depending on if you can get to it on the inside where the water supply lines hook on. I made sure to buy one that my dealer also sold repair parts to just in case I had to replace something in it in the future. Good Luck!

I posted this on another thread...(External Shower)

Not sure which pieces you need, but this site seems to have a few...

RV Faucets, parts, kitchen, sink, bath, shower

Good Luck!

Hey y'all,
Just ran into the very same problem... I had to buy the WHOLE unit!! Not just the shower handle unit... $80 for the weekend of free camping...*OUCH*...The sales guy and repair tech were not very helpful But NOW I know!!! Thetford SUCK for NOT selling just that .29 cent piece that need to be replaced!
