Tires
I was at Discount Tire today for an issue on the truck and the salesman told me I could purchase their tire warranty for my trailer tires. I have to take the trailer in so they can inspect the tires and do the paperwork, do you think 14.00 per tire is worth it?

I think the real question is do you think it's worth it! Have you had any tire problems in the past. I don't have flats, by the time I know I have a problem with a tire, it's gone. The cost of a new tire will be about $110.00. So for $56 (4 tires) its insurance.

Hello
Personally I have never been a fan of these prorated warranties, about the only ones I ever buy is on autos and these newfangled washing machines

Chuck, have you considered a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) for your camper ?? I run a Pressure Pro system. It won't prevent a true blow out, but hopefully will prevent a tire disintegrating due to a leak.

I bought my Goodyear camper tires at a Goodyear store. The manager stated that they do not offer road hazard insurance on trailer tires.
What is in the fine print on the tire warranty? The one on the stock tires only included the tire, based on tread depth and age. No damage to the camper is covered. Also the tire had to have a defect that caused the blowout and you had to ship them the tire to prove it. Then even if it was covered (the tires had a two year warranty from manufacture, but shipped from china they were a YEAR old before they were installed by FR on the camper. So it was only a one year warranty in my possession) it was only the tire. They would ship you a new one.
Only you can decide what is worth what. Just know the facts first.

its the discount tire road hazard warranty, get a flat it gets repaired or blowout and they replace the tire. I have it on my trucks and its more than paid for itself, for 50 bucks it can't hurt to have it.

I bought Michelin MX2 LT tires for the truck at BJ's Wholesale and they gave me the warranty on the truck tires. For 15 bucks a tire (on 200 dollar tires) I got them mounted, spin balanced, and inflated to my spec plus their road hazard warranty. A very good deal. Too bad they did not sell ST tires.

I wouldn't buy tires anywhere else. I've shopped and shopped over the years and they consistently have the best prices and I have had nothing but great service from Discount Tire over the years. BTW, they are called "America's Tire" in some states. Same company, just different branding. Just like any business though, I have run into some employees that were less knowledgeable than others.
I just bought some new truck tires from Discount Tire a few weeks ago and I did get the tire warranty. I've used it before and it says pretty clearly that if they can plug a tire safely they will do that, but if not they will replace the tire for free for up to 3 years as long as it still has legal tread depth.
Certificate for Repair, Refund or Replacement - Discount Tire
To me it's just like insurance, something I hope I never have to use, but glad I had it when I needed it.

I bought Maxxis tires from Discount tire and had them mounted locally for less than I could buy the tires locally.
I personally don't buy tire warranties. I've had 3 tire incidents in the last 20 years on the road and 2 of them were thrown treads and the tires didn't go flat and the other was a ¼" screw I picked up somewhere.

I recently replaced the tires on my truck with some new Yoko LTs (which I REALLY like so far) from Discount Tire. I bought the warranty for $16 per tire IIRC. I normally would not do this so it's new to me. I justified it by telling myself that the other tires I looked at were $50 more per tire so I was saving anyway. Weird way to think about things, but that's what I did.

If your V lite 30 WRLTS has the world renowned Carlisles as mine does, then yes, I would get the warrenty. There's many posts on here about these tires- (The Carlisle blowout club)....Almost as famous as the Concertone radios!! Randy
