Most truck scales today have 3 sections.
When I weighed my rig I had my truck front wheels
on the front section, my drive wheels on the middle
section and the trailer on the back section.
I did hurriedly crank down the tongue jack enough to
take the weight off the ball. The tongue jack was also
on the rear section.
Then I set the tongue back on the ball and had them
weigh me again. The difference in the rear weight was
my tongue loading more or less.
It cost $8.50 for
the 1st weigh and $1 for the second reading.
Total time no more than a few minutes. They were
very friendly.
My only problem was reaching WAY up to press the
intercom button. It's set about 8 feet above the ground
so the 18 wheelers can reach it from their cab!
When you go inside to pay you get a paper print out
with certified weights from each scale and time and
date stamp.
Everyone should get weighed!
I was pleasantly surprised that my trailer weighed less
than I had imagined. And that was with 1/2 tank of
water and full gear and food for a long weekend.
