Transmission Cable

Well, we just had a new problem with our 2012 Georgetown. After fueling up at a Pilot, unit would not start. Got it started by doing something to the soleoid. About 3 miles down the road, we weren't shifting gears. To make a long story short, we had to get towed to a repair shop, where it was determined the tranny cable had snapped. A new one was ordered, but due to storms in the Mid West, we had to wait a day for it to be delivered. But we finally got back on the road.

After posting this, I googled transmission cable and found there is/was a recall on transmission cables on motohome Ford chassis.

I thought I had read on here somewhere about where the cable was too short and wasn't allowing the MH to go into 5th or 6th gear. Not sure if that was what the recall was about or not.

I recently talked to someone from Forest River and Ford Motor Co., and there is no recall on the transmission cable for a 2012 Georgetown.

There is a recall on the cable for the gear selector indicator but not for the tranny linkage. My GT is a 2012 and had the recall procedure done at my local Ford dealer.
