true high gloss gelcoat fiberglass exterior vs aluminum
We went to look at a 2017 Salem Villa Estate 395RET today. We love the new floor plan and are going to order one this winter for spring delivery.
I was discussing with the salesman that our first RV delaminated, the Coachman did not. I was leaning towards an aluminum sided unit to avoid the delam issue but the salesman said that the Salem Villas with the true high gloss gelcoat fiberglass exterior option have a fiberglass panel that is "hung" on the exterior studs as opposed to a laminated "filon sandwhich"
There is a definite different feel to the exterior where the wall gives a bit between studs
compared to the tradional hard side filon trailers. He claimed that there is not the traditional issue with fiberglass delamination.
I have an email to Forest River but will have to wait until Monday for a response.
I would love to get the "true high gloss gelcoat fiberglass exterior" due to the shiny exterior and ease of maintenance but do not want to worry about delam.
Does anyone here have experience with this exterior finish on the new units or is the non delam a sales tactic?
Thanks guys and gals.
