Trundle bed heads up

We have a 2009 Salem 403FB which we love. However, there is a problem with the 6 inch wide strip of plywood placed at back wall of trundle bed. With the bed flat there is a gap at the wall and our 6 year old grand daughter got her leg caught when it fell between the plywood and the bed while she was sleeping. I have replaced the 6 inch piece with a 12 inch piece which can be lifted up to give access to a lot of extra storage room.
