Turn signal not working
Just hooking our new trailer up for the weekend and noticed that the left blinker on the trailer is not blinking. the light comes on with the headlights. Any suggestions how to quickly diagnose where the problem may be?

first thought would be the bulb. second would be a corroded connection at tow vehicle. try unplugging and plugging the cable to the trailer at the tow vehicle.
wd40 works wonders cleaning corrosion from connectors.

Agree with jimh. There are 2 filaments in the bulb, 1 for running lights, 1 for signal and brakes. Start with a new bulb, the work on the contacts. If that doesn't work, next you need to go to the truck connection and pigtail to see if you have power there.

The turn signals are fused seprate. Look under the hood for a blown fuse.

I think in most vehicles, both right and left turn signals use the same fuse, so if 1 side is working, I don't think that fuse would be the problem.

Do you brake lights work? If not replace the bulb, if they do then look at the tow vehicle for the problem.

thanks for your help. kind of a false alarm. the brakes on that side also didn't work. i kept playing with the wiring connector to my TV and it slid in a bit further and now everything works fine. crisis averted

Both of the turn signals may be on the same fuse and running to a relay. Just get a straight end test light and check the 9 oclock terminal on the truck end of the below pic, with the left turn on. If your light blinks it is the trailer. If it does not, it is the truck.

fixer, 58, you were apparently getting your information and composing your post while the OPer was giving us the good news. Nice post, and is always good to have that information on the forum.
