yep...probably the easiest, I'll probably still try the BigAss Vise Grips first. Maybe I can grab on to the edge and twist it off.
Thanks

My '17 trailer has strange looking heads also. Like an 8 point star...I was told they are shot in with a Ramset type tool. Vice grip them out and replace with sheet metal screws and flat/fender washers. I have to remove some of mine eventually to mount stuff.

Ok. I quit guessing and took a couple pics..
Then I cut the plastic star off
Then I got a 1/4" nut driver... then helped get it out by prying and turning.
Then hammered it back in temporarily.

Must have changed recently. My 2015 has self tapping hex head screws. Glad you found out what they were

Correct, not screws at all.
Hammershot, Ramset or drive pin fasteners driven in by a 22 caliber charge.
Not meant to be removed.
How stupid is that?

I wanna camp...
How much prying did you have to do before they decided to come out, and what did you use to take the plastic star off?
Thanks

I used my trusty pocket knife...plastic came right off. Needle nose pliers would prolly pull it off. I thought it was a screw so I righty tighty lefty loosey and it came out bout half way and stopped. I took said knife and pried under head while turning and it came out. I think loosen and use vice grips to pull out.

They use the powder actuated pins because they're fast and cheap compared to installing screws.
The easiest way to remove them is with a pneumatic chisel. Just pop the heads off them.
