Warranty not reconized

hello, just purchased a new rockwood 2503s mini lite trailer, had problems with the schiwtec slides from day 1, 4 months in and the slide does not work at all, purchased the trailer from another dealer outside where I live, now I need work done, the dealer here in town will work on the trailer but will not recognize the warranty because I did not purchase the unit from him, the best he could do is overcharge me and was told that i would have to pursue forest river for reimbursement because he was not oblige to do so. live here in Ontario Canada, any one else have the same issues?? and yes the trailer was purchased in Ontario for 8000$ less than the dealer where i live.

Unfortunately, dealers that you do not buy from are not required by the manufacturer to do work for you. Its an annoying quirk of the industry. Poor decision on the part of that local dealer to do that as I'm sure you will think twice before possibly buying from them in the future, but its all too common.

even if you buy it from them they are not required to do warranty work if they choose not to. Had it happen and forest river just told me to take it somewhere else as the selling dealer can do warranty work at their choosing.

Call Forest River and get them to set you up with a place to do your warranty work, it is after all their responsibility to have it repaired. I'd be very pleasant to them by the way, I can't see how they could not help.
