Water heater (gas only or electric)

How do I know if I have a 110 water heater or strictly propane source water heater ?

Is it a Suburban water heater. One other way to look is open the outside cover and look in the lower left hand corner for an on off switch. If there is, turn to on. That is the electric side of the heater.

They have a lot called an Extend A Stay. It will let you use an external propane tank that's easier to refill. Do you have a MH?

Since you didn't post year/make/model of RV nor is it listed in your profile, it's kinda hard to help you.

As donnie said, at least post make and model of WH.

I would think a park model should have an electric side.

Open the outside cover, if there's a switch in there it's both electric and propane. If no switch, it's propane only! My TT was both and my GT 300 MH is disappointingly only propane! If yours is electric, do NOT turn on the switch until you're sure the tank is full!!

Jayspoint, as others have pointed out, it's hard to give you accurate advice without knowing what RV you may have, or what water heater is installed.

Forest River uses Atwood and Suburban tank type water heaters, and various brands of tankless water heaters....... so it's not a one size fit all thing.

If you have a park model, it could even have a residential style water heater.

________________

If you ONLY have one switch inside your RV to the water heater, then that's going to be to the gas/propane side.

An Atwood tank type water heater would have a second switch right there, that controls the electric heating element...if equipped.

A Suburban tank type water heater "could" have a second inside switch to control the electric heating element if equipped (SWDEL model)...... or could ONLY have an electric heating element switch on the face of the water heater (SWDE model)

Both the SWDE and SWDEL models operations and switches are explained in detail at this link:

http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ore-36197.html

-------------------------------

If you have a tankless (on demand) water heater, then it's most likely going to be gas only.

To add to your's...Our 2018 Cherokee...(Suburban WH) has a switch inside on wall by door...."Propane on/off." There is a switch on the WH...lower left side, accessed from outside by removing cover and this is the "Electric element" switch. There is not a switch inside the trailer for the Electric side of the WH. I do miss the dual switches that our Jayco had inside to turn on either the electric or gas.
