Water in Battery Box?

I typically remove the battery from my RV when I park it in a storage lot, just to limit the possibility of it walking off. On the new RV, I've noticed that it seems to collect perhaps 1/4" of water in the bottom, perhaps just enough to fill the recesses.

Any reason why I shouldn't drill a few drain holes?

It's normal.
In a boat or enclosed space you want it to hold water/acid leaks.
If it's sitting outside on the tongue it needs some drain holes.
I drilled mine!!
You should too.

Mine filled with water on the trip home from Elkhart. First mod half a dozen 5/16 holes in the bat box.

Drilling holes in the bottom also helps any vapors to escape through the top. Be careful not to drill the holes too large. If a bee or wasp can get in they'll make a nice nest in there and you won't want to find that when you take off the top to check the batteries.
