What's This Thing On My Outer Hull?

A couple of weeks ago I noticed this fixture on the left side of our 2006 SunSeeker 3100. We couldn't think of any reason for it being there. These two pictures are of the thing in place, on the left side just forward of the slide-out. K-R.

Co-owner unscrewed part of it and I photographed the part that came off. We figured it isn't harming anything, so did not remove the base for fear of causing leaks. Here are some close-ups of the removed piece. It's about three inches wide.

You are supposed to have a small arm on the end of that roller tube which would catch on the piece your asking about should the topper try and unroll while traveling. Yours appears to be missing.

Good thing I included the distance shot, so I could compare it to your picture. Mine is indeed missing the arm on the end of the roller. Any idea if this could be had separately, or would I have to replace the roller and/or mechanism too? Co-owner climbed up on a ladder and found the roller had a really strong spring. If the spring is that stiff, maybe we don't need the arm? We looked at other units in the storage yard near ours, but none had the same setup. Different vintage, or different manufacturers, not sure which. K-R.

Thanks for the picture and the part number. We went to our local dealer, who ordered the part. It should arrive in a couple of days.

Any gotchas involved in installation?

K-R.

Thanks, everyone.

We installed the part a couple of days ago. There were no holes in the roller, so it looks like our unit never had the thing in the first place.
