I would say that if nothing comes out of the gray then you can skip pulling the black.... (unless you are in a place you can dump some black tank residue or have a sewer line hooked up)

I have two grays and one black tank. The gray tank that is called the Galley is directly under the shower and collects the shower water (and nothing else). The other gray tank collects both sinks (bathroom and kitchen). However, the galley gray tank runs through the black to drain. I like it in that it serves to flush out the black after draining.
