Which generator to buy when in the boondocks and no one else is around?

Sound is not much of a concern as I will be camping in the moutains/woods where no one else is around for MILES!!! Just need the watts! Has anyone had any luck with the Champion 46515 or similar model? It's running wattage is 3,500 and it has a 30TT recepticle. Looking for something reliable.

Any cheapo home store or contractor generator will work to "give ya amps" . You can run your table saw like mad with no worries at all.

BUT there are some downsides.

The inverters in those units are NOT designed to provide clean filtered power to your electronics (like your refrigerator, air conditioner, surround sound radio, LCD TV, Gas Furnace (yes it has a computer), Oh were you planning on using a computer or DVD player?). While they might work for a while; you will definitely have interference issues while they do. Bars, "tearing", and static on your LCD TV will be the least of your problems.

Did I mention noise? Yea you will be on top of mount Everest but camping with hearing protectors on all the time is no fun either.

I know you were put out about how long the thread got, but there is a lot of good information there.
What type generator to buy

When someone says they are camping in the mountains and asks about
a generator I always wonder ...... what are you going to use the generator
for??

It's typically cooler in the mountains so you don't need to run the roof AC.
If you're just going to charge batteries so you can run the LP furnace or
watch a little TV you don't need some big honking loud, heavy generator.
A little honda 1000 will be PLENTY to charge batteries, it's quiet AND
light weight and it sips gas and it's easy on the electronics.

Just a thought.......
Remember a 25 Amp battery charger is only gonna use about 350 watts.
Yeah I said 350 NOT 3500.

if noise and neighbors aren't a concern, the Champion 3500 can't be beat.
power, price and customer support are second to none.

tons of happy owners and they can be bought for under $300.
