Winfield RV products

I recently was parked next to a 5th wheel that had the Winfield Landing Leg Cross Brace Stabilizer kit installed on the front landing gear. The owner said that it really helped stabilze the RV in windy conditions when parked.

Winfield also makes a Scissor Jack Cross Brace Stabilizer kit.

Has anyone had any experience with either of these products - Good - Bad - or otherwise?

I have a set for the front landing gear and they work exactly as advertised.
They installed in about 10 minutes.
The wife no longer complains about the trailer shaking.
Worth every penny!

Fivecodys -

Thanks for your reply. I might get the kit.

Any other input from other users?

I built my own system for the front landing gear, with stabilizer bars front-to-back and side-to-side on both front legs. It works, plain and simple. But the rear end still wiggles a bit, so I may have to make a bar for that as well.

Crocus - I thought about building ny own, but at $200 I might just get them from Winfield. I like the Winfield kit as it retracts with the gear.Sounds good that you build your own.

Yeah - wiggley rear ends are OK on some things, but not on a RV!!

Mine retract as well, fairly clean looking, similar to the Steadyfast.
If you can get the kit for $200, its probably worth it, as I spent a day plus $50 to make mine. (I don't pay myself a lot!)

I find that stabilizing both front legs provides much better motion control. I have tried just tightening one leg up, then both, and there is quite a difference.

I have very very little movement with what I have done but I am considering adding one more to the left side from the bottom of the stab back towards frame .
Time will tell if anymore support is needed since I dont have much camping time with what I have done .

f1100 - a very professial job - it looks as good as what I saw at the RV parK. I have to agree with your comment about the king pin jack - I don't see how they could make any difference in windy parked conditions.

Thanks for your input and the photos.

thank you for the comment ! I am taking close up photos tomorrow for another frf member I will be more than happy to to post for all . theres others on here that disagree with the way mine work but I have had no issues and they work great IMO . I like to save a buck when I can and this is one way I saved at least $130.00 . and my fab time and install was similar to prefabbed units for more money . Besides I KNOW mine will never be "light weight"

Yeah im just thinking out loud here but who wants to lug around that big ole king pin jack in the back of your truck and load it and unload it 4 times to go camping !

f1100 - I would like to see any additional photos when you post them. I am not a veteran RVer, but everytime I see one of those king pin jacks, I wonder what good, if any, they offer.

I guess I will look them up and see what people have to say about them.

Actually the king pin tripods work very well for eliminating front end sway. We used one until I built my stabilizers, just got tired of it being in the way.

If it's not to much trouble could you post a list of parts and pieces. Would be
helpful. They look great.
