Winter living

I'm living in my 5 th wheel year round, I read or heard that if you place a tarp on the ground when you park your unit it will stop some of the cold air coming from the ground , thus making the floors of your unit a little warmer,
Anyone else heard of this or doing this ?
What about moisture problems underneath?
Any suggestions?

I can't imagine that making much difference, if you are parked on ground and not concrete and sheath your unit on the perimeter, then it would make some sense in keeping the ground moisture from the underside.

Some winter campers put skirting around the unit to help the underside of the camper hold a little bit of heat and even put a couple of trouble lights down there.

Cold is cold tho, and anyting you do to insulate your unit will help. putting the plastic shrink wrap or celotex etc on the inside of the windows helps if you has single pane windows.

Skirt the unit.
Air is a very poor transmitter of heat.
Any type of outer layer (think 2 pane window) that can be placed on the exterior will help.
Skirting gives an outer layer to the floor.
If it were possible to envelope the RV in a clear plastic bubble it would make a tremendous difference.
Heat moves to cold.
Cold air in motion will strip the heat from the unit.

On our last trip we saw a brand new 5th wheel with a brown tarp over it. We didn't figure it was due to a leak...new RV and no rain in the forecast.

Ahah! the brown absorbs more heat.

(a clue was that the tarp was blue on one side, brown on the other, and they had the brown side up)
