ZX700 Sub Woofer problems

Hello. I have a ZX700 Digital 5.1 Surround Sound system in my 2010 Puma Toy Hauler. It worked great for most of last year. Towards the fall though, the Sub Woofer quit working. I double checked the settings in the setup menu and the Sub Woofer says it's on. This weekend I have decided to check the connections. All connections are good at the Sub Woofer and at the Receiver. If you disconnect a wire to the Sub and reconnect it (with a movie playing), you can hear a "tick" noise from the Sub, every time you reconnect it. That told me there is at least a signal going to the Sub. So I tried hooking another speaker to the Sub output and I still get the same thing - a "tick" when you connect it. So does that mean that the Sub Woofer channel is blown in the receiver?

Are you able to remove the sub-woofer box and inspect it?
What I'm getting at is can you get inside the box to see if a wire has come loose inside of it?
You mentioned that it makes a noise when you disconnect it so it's probably not a loose wire but worth a look if you can get at it.

You might want to post this on the Concertone sub-forum.
There is a guy there named Bob that works for them and he might be able to better guide you.

RE: Sub Woofer problems

Hello Bill.
Yes, I have the Sub Woofer removed and there is no physical damage to the speaker. There is no damage to the wiring or connections. Ok, thanks on the Sub Forum idea.

if you checked another speaker and got nothing, its either the head unit or the wiring between the HU and the sub.
