2009 Berkshire for $125K; a good deal?
Found a 2009 Berkshire for $125K. Lots of extras including the upgraded engine and transmission with only 12K miles. Seems like a deal to good to be true. I've got a class C to sell, but wondering if I should jump on this one before it is gone...

The price sounds pretty good, but not great. You should be able to purchase a 2011 Berkshire for about $150-160k on a clean deal. A savings of $25,000 to $35,000 that drops back two, and now almost 3 model years, is not a wonderful deal, but it is not horrible either. He does have some extras which would add to the sale price. I'd check to see how long it has been on the market and are you looking at having to replace tires and belts and try to find out why he is selling it.

The owner's wife died of cancer and his plans have changed. Very sad.
The pictures of the coach make it look brand new. He cared for it very well and has had all the periodic maintenance done on time or before it was due. He has kept it at his house plugged in and also has the tire and windshield covers.
My challenge is that $125K is on the high end of what we can afford. We have been looking at gas class As, not thinking we could upgrade to a diesel. We have four kids, and I'd like to have something that could tow our van when we travel.

I think you will need to take a close look at the coach and see if it will meet your needs and what may need to be done to it to bring it up to "new" standards. It sounds like he may have to move off his asking price, but that is what one would normally expect when selling something as big as a motorhome. You might also want to check to see if you will be able to get financing for a purchase from a private party. Not all banks will go along with a private purchase and if they do, they charge a premium on the interest.

I was just shopping (and bought a new 2010 360FWS), was thinking to get a 2011, or 2012 for not much more, but turns out Forest River has been raising their prices to the dealers and it was going to be a lot more money. Easy way to find out, ask for a online quote from RVDirect.com, they seemed to be tthe lowest I could find and no haggaling required. Also check on financing rate and required down payment if needed as may be difference between new unit and used one. Also if has the big extended warranty on coach that is worth $$$, depending on what time is left. A new 360 was going to run me (pre tax etc) around 160K.

$125,000 seems like a pretty good price to me...
Just bought a 2010 for $140,000 and that was the best deal I could find.

I have a 2010 390bh with the 350 cummins, in motion satellite, washer-dryer, pull out tray, extra 19inch LCD installed over the small sofa ( to view while in motion). Many more options. 10,500 miles I would sell for $130,000 firm.

A coach looses 20% right out the doori - infact everything does. So a 2009 would have lost that + another 10% at least for one yr. depreciation. Sticker today for a 2011 is $159k - out the door @ $150k. I'd put the 2009 in the $117k - $110k range and a wholesale value @ $100k.

Ok, I need your help out with this.
I have been looking for a 390BH to full-time in with my family.
I am debating between a used or new unit.
Here is a quote I just got from a well-known dealer (best price so far)
Used prices are between $100-135K
gershwin - When you say sticker, do you mean the MSRP or the actual selling price?
Where did you see the $159k price?
Forest River Berkshire Class A 390BH
360 Cummins Engine IPO 340 Cummins Engine - Click for Details $8,774.00
Combination Washer/Dryer $1,250.00
Pearl Interior Decor $0.00
Midnight Pearl Full Body Paint $0.00
Slide-Out Tray in Basement Storage $750.00
Motor Vehicle Safety Act $35.00
Advantage Package - Click here for Details $0.00
Neo-Angle Shower (360FWS & 390BH Only) $215.00
Queen Serta Mattress $290.00
Shipping: Pickup In Buffalo: $0.00
Documentation Fee $45.00
Quote Price $157,084.00
Dave - yes I got the photos (sorry been out of town last couple of days and could not respond).
PS - Has anyone found a source for a keyless entry system that can replace the current entry handle?

MHSRV - Texas - you should be able to easily negotiate $10k off that - at least I understand they'll move that much. Your not going to find another dealer that deals in the volume they do - at least I haven't yet.

I just purchased a 2011 BE390BH with 7,649 miles on it (garage kept) for 87,500.00 plus tax. You need to look further because there are great deals out there unless you try to purchase a Tiffin Product with independent suspension.

I'd guess that in the 4 1/2 years since the last post, he's already done exactly THAT!
