2014 Berkshire 400 RB

We have a 2014 Tiffin Open Road 36 la (gas) we bought in February. We love the RV life and now think we would have been better off buying a DP. The Tiffin is nice but we were and remain disappointed in the way it was delivered and how long it is taking to get all of the issues addressed. I realize every MH has issues, but its hard to believe this left the plant with this many issues.

We looked at the Tiffin Red, Berkshire and Newmar Ventanna. The Berkshire is a very nice looking unit and seems you get a lot for the money compared to the Tiffin. Can any of the Berkshire give me some feedback onb your experience and the quality of the units? There are a lot of MH's that look great but I am more concerned with the quality and reliability. As we WILL NOT be looking to trade this one in for a long time.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum Doug, I see you are from Covington. You probably did just like I did. I shopped at Berryland and Dixie. We also were looking at a Red vs Berkshire. We decided on the Berk. Here's kinda of a list that we went through when comparing the two.

1) Cost vs quality was the first comparison. Lower price on the Berk and in my opinion better quality. About the only thing we saw on the Red that was better was the quality of the seat coverings. The fit, finish and layout were better in the Berk.

2) Reputation of the two dealerships. Berryland wins this one hands down. I had to bring mine back for service twice so far (1 year). They did quality work and I didn't have to spend weeks at Red Bay. Compared to what I read here and what I read on TVRN about problems with both units, again the Berk comes out on top.

3) Slides in layout and room. Berk wins again. I have the '13 390BH and I was comparing it to the Red bunk model. The layout inside on the Berk has more room to move around when the slides are in. Also I found the layout of the wet bay, storage area, access to the butane tank, how the batteries are set up, the fuse/ electrical area upfront DS. All of them better on the Berk.

4) I think the hardest part of our purchase was deciding which Berk to buy. I wanted the RB, DW wanted the BH. Guess who won lol

Have fun shopping brands, I had a blast and put all the salesman through the wringer.

On a side note. When we were shopping, Berryland did not have a Ventana on the lot. If they would have I might be on a Newmar forum somewhere. That 4037 model is an awesome unit.
