Am i missing something? Or is this just a terrible design by FR? Not only do they not connect to make a solid mattress, they are about 2 inches less in height as well.
Looks like a design change mostly for the better in that they finally got rid of the flimsy tops on each end of the booth that also had sharp corners where the fabric wears. You could also have a 3rd seat cushion made - I have one on order from FR so it can be a solid bed cushion with the back cushions left upright in place. We are doing that for it to be a bed for our toddler on the old style dinette with the table down. Maybe one can be made to fit for you.
I do like the way the table comes down, very easy, but you are right that is not good especially if you can't rearrange the cushions. I have a 2013 and my cushion can be moved. I would communicate your displeasure to your dealer and maybe have them to make you a cushion out of memory foam.
Thanks for the thoughts everybody. I'll mention it to my dealer and go from there. I have an appt at the end of the month for some work. I'll let you know what they say.
