It looks like Berkshire is hitting for a level just below the pricing of the Dutch Star and the Aspire and the Phaeton. Nice addition to the line up.

One thing I think they really need to think seriously about adding is the emergency exit door like Newmar added on all their rear bath units. I've always been concerned about the potential of a fire and being able to easily and safely exit the rig. The window exit doesn't cut it in my book.

The one in the photo is parked about 50 yards from where we have our FROG booth at the Dealer Expo. I'll get some interior shots and post them this week.
So Bob, am I to assume this will be your next 'purchase'?

The Berkshire XLT is a 2016. There's often some confusion on Class A and Class C unit model years. Since we have to order the chassis well in advance, it's possible for a new unit, in this case, a 2016, to be built on a 2015 chassis. In order to alleviate this confusion, all manufacturers are now required to certify model years based on the unit's build completion date. In this case, the chassis is current as well -- in fact, we're still waiting on some of the chassis from Freightliner. The one in the photo is one of two prototypes built on a chassis without the steer tag. The rest will be built on the new steer tag chassis.

Damn!! I thought I would be the first one to get the new model (NOT!!). Seems I have another party that I would need to convince in order for that to happen and she would take a LOT of convincing(LOL!!).

Good luck with it!

Tom, you'd better tell Margaret they're going fast! I can walk about 50 yards and have them put your name on one.

With that 450 HP engine and 150 gallon fuel tank, you can go a long way without having to stop for fuel. Although, when you do fill it ... ouch!

Am I correct that the sofa still converts to a queen bed with the inflatable mattress?

I'm told that the mattress for the queen bed in the sofa is NOT an inflatable, but I can verify that if you'd like.

I think it looks great. What's the MSRP?

Check the floor plan of the Sportscoach Crosscountry 405 FK against the New Berkshire XLT, very similar.

It looks like it will be in the mid-$300,000 range. That would make it very competitive with the Dutch Star, Tiffin Phaeton, and Entegra Aspire.

Is this one all-electric? That seems to be the trend now for tag axle coaches.

As far as I can see in the brochure it is not all electric. It will still use LP for heat and hot water. This is a big deal if competing with DS as they are all electric and have an Aqua Hot that is fired on diesel or electricity. I was told that the Charleston will have Aqua Hot in 2017 as part of it upgrade. New Caps and upgraded interior.

The brochure that I posted (link below) shows MSRP of $325,000. There are a few options -- satellite antenna, stackable washer/dryer, heated tile floor, 10K generator -- that are extra.

The cooktop is an electric smooth induction surface, but Phil is correct that the on-demand hot water and the furnaces run on propane.

If I read the brochure correctly the 150 gallon fuel tank was an up charge option.

Paul, the items in the paragraph that starts with "Add to that..." -- 8KW generator (10KW is optional), 15K towing capacity, and 150 gallon tank -- are standard.
