Cool A/C Heat on dash

There are many new 38A on forum so my question is this. With the dash control in the dash/floor position is your A/C compressor kicking in.Finding it is a problem in this position to keep hot air supply fighting the A/C and it only happens then.Had to have compressor replaced by FL.when it seized up coming home from FR factory for other repairs.FR said it was a FL problem but they say FR problem. So I am trying to see if it is a problem with switch or just the way designed.

If I understand the problem correctly, you want to blow hot air thru the floor vents & the dash vents at the same time. When doing so you are not using your A/C compressor.

When directing air (other than using your A/C) you are engaging a solenoid that directs air to the floor. dash, or defroster vents.

When using your A/C, air is directed thru the dash vents only.

Does the A/C compressor come on when you direct air to the floor vents only, or to the defroster?

In my truck the ac comes with the defrost it's supposed to help dry the air. I have to turn my fan off and on to reset it. Not sure if it's anything similar.

Typically the A/C will run when in defrost modes (or obviously A/C mode). If it runs constantly in other modes theirs likely a fault in the HVAC control.

This whole set-up is similar to the first auto-dash designs. My 61 Impala might have had this design. When you are in A/C, or possibly defrost position, that is the only time you should get A/C. In the position shown you should only get heat to the dash and floor vents.

our 38A is a 2016 and the A/C panel is different than the one shown in the pic. Ours has a separate compressor button. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
