AC intake covered by slides?

Hello,

I'm new to the Berkshire family, having upgraded from a Tiffin Breeze. I noticed the air intakes for the Berkshire are on the outer edges of the ceiling and are completely covered by the slides when they are in. Has anyone had any issues running the roof-top AC with the slides in (freezing up, poor performance, etc...)? Are there other intakes elsewhere that I've not yet noticed?

I've run the air while going down the road and haven't had any problems.

Never had a problem when driving I open the vents on the a/c itself.

Tim not sure what you mean by air intakes. I see you have a 2016 so you have a different roof AC. If you would take a picture of the intakes you are talking about it would be helpful.
Also welcome to the forum. Congrats on the first 2016 I have heard of in the road. A review and pictures would be great.

About the A/C Units
I believe you may be looking at the A/C outlets in the ceiling, which are circular, with vanes that can be directed. You can increase the flow to these by closing the louvers on the bottom of the A/C unit itself, on the ceiling. The inlet for the A/C unit (like residential window units) is on the outside of the A/C, up on the roof. When the slides are in, the cooled air finds its way around the closed slide, and into the bus. You could open the louvers on the bottom (outlet) of the A/C unit to have the A/C cool air come unrestricted into the bus with the slides closed. Only down south in the summer do I operate the generator to power the front A/C while driving (slides closed), as the automotive A/C isn't quite enough.

When the front A/C unit is operating in heat pump mode (only is effective when outside air temp is above 40 - 45 deg F), heat comes out of the circular A/C outlets.

A Little About the Furnaces
The heater outlets from the rear furnace (in my 2013 390RB-40L) are registers in the floor of the bedroom, and circular, brown plastic vents with louvers in the bathroom and front half-bath, on the wall near the floor. The front furnace outlet comes out under the couch in the front, on the right, opposite the table, through a plenum system built out of "construction wood", as FR calls it. Open up the couch into a bed, and remove the thin, fiberboard or plywood cover to view it (again, design may vary with model - I have the Rear Bath Model).

I think what Hedge is referring to is new units do not have the AC box coming into the coach all you see is the round duct opening. The square grill in the ceiling is gone. What is there is return air grills mounted in the ceiling that are close to the outside walls FR calls it whisper quiet.

Thanks. My misunderstanding.

Also, I had assumed that the same old unit was installed above the ceiling fascia (fancy ceiling cover that all the new motorhomes now have to hide the A/C), and was just a little better muffled.

Hey, thanks for all the replies. We just got back from our 1st 5-day trip with our new coach, and everything worked great! The AC intake ducts are located on the outter edges of the ceiling, and are covered by the slides when they come in, however, there is ample clearance between the top of the slide and the AC intake.
