Adding a front TV

Hello all and Happy Thanksgiving! I get a little computer time while my DW is preparing our feast and I had a thought (dangerous as that is). I conducted a search and did not see anything about it, so thought I would ask. I know it is/was an option to have the front TV above the pilot/co-pilot seats in the 2013 390RB, if the coach does not have that, how hard is it to add after the fact? I am guessing there would need to be some cabinet work and mounting work, but what about other considerations? -Glenn

In our 2011 390 rb there is really nowhere you could sit and see it with the slides out. I believe if one were mounted there it would have to have a lock out to prevent it from being watched while driving down the road. The 2013 maybe a different layout from ours.

On our 2014 390RB that we bought used early this past fall the previous owner had a television in that location. When he traded it in he removed it and replaced the door, but the signs are all there ( wires etc ). I want to reinstall one back there, wife says we have enough t.v.'s in the coach. I'll have one mounted there before the 1 yr. anniversary of the purchase. Lol

Thanks Joe. I like your energy level! I was thinking it would be good to have one there as well for the kids (and DW) to be able to watch while on the road. I know it might not do much without an in motion satellite feed (saving that for later), but I could install a DVD player in one of those overheard cabinets and hook that to it for movies on the go. -Glenn

Because there is a lock out that prevents the front tv from playing while travelling, we bought a couple of small, personal DVD players which have their own screens so each child can watch what they want. They cost less than $100 each. A lot easier than trying to add a front TV(LOL!!).

All the wiring should be there. Like you mentioned, cabinet work may be involved. But I would think you could buy that from FR seeing as they do install TVs in that location.

I added one. I removed the center door and built a wood frame to attach the TV mount to. Works even while going down the road. I'll post pics in a little while.

There is a 12volt disconnect attached to 120ac plug behind the TV.When key is turned on,12volts goes to disconnect and kills TV.All you have to do is go behind TV remove DC disconnect reconnect 120ac to ac plug and you are good to go.Remember that in some states it is illegal to have front TV on while going down the road.(only if seen from drivers seat).

I wouldn't care if passengers wanted to watch tv as we travel but no way would I want the sound coming out of the TV that close to me. I would have to run a speaker off it or something. We don't have one. If Dianna wants to watch TV she uses the living room or bedroom TV's.

Subsailor,if you look in center cabinet you should have AC plug and TV connection on back wall,you can then reinforce the outer cabinets and add back plate in center cabinet to hold flatscreen TV,good to go

I don't watch the TV while driving, I have Direct TV and we usually put it on one of the radio channels. It's like having Serious Radio.

Yes, I thought the industry had stopped installing the front overhead TV due to safety concerns. But if they are still installing the at the factory, I must have imagined that.
