Air bag compressor
Anyone have a compressor that cuts on and off as you're driving???

To expand on my above thread....
I have a 2008 Berkshire I Just purchased in Florida and I'm driving it home to Texas.... It seems that the compressor is coming on and running a minute or so really really often... The gauge fluctuates from just below 25 up to about 35.... Not being familiar with an air break system, I don't know if this is normal or not....
Any sage advice would be greatly appreciated..

Are you referring to the compressor or the turbo? The turbo is the gauge on your left. If your air pressure was down to 35 or lower you would be getting a very annoying warning noise.

Yes, I'm talking about the gauge on the left... I guess it's the turbo after all... Shows I still have a lot to learn about all the gauges.... Thanks for your help...

Ernest,
You might want to look into Camp Freightliner in Gaffney, SC. My wife and I went to when we bought our rig and it is great. Best $150 I could have spent on my rig. We knew nothing of diesels when we got ours so it was great info and the perfect introduction to the care and feeding of our beasts.

How often and long should the turbo run??? Mine seems to run and run as I'm cruising down the hwy... ( I'm running on cruise at abt 62mph by the way)

as long as your using power or needing power the gauge will be high .. go down a hill it should drop to 0.
it will fluctuate with power demand .

sounds to me like it is ! your actual air compressor gauge should have within the gauge a red pointer and a white pointer . and go as low as about 90 to 100 and up to about 120 125 .

Right... They are on lower right and reading correctly... It was the turbo (left side) Just seemed to be running an excessive amount but I guess that's normal....

Mine runs like yours (most of the time), and I think mine is operating normally.
As for camp Freightliner, I have heard from many people that it is well worth the money. Now if I can get the time to get over there...

Joker, check the Camp Freightliner website. Sometimes they have the classes in Oregon or somewhere out west. It may be the one you can catch. Ernest, you don't have where you are located on your profile, but check out the Camp Freightliner website and see if there will be a class near you soon. For us neophytes, it is well worth the money and time!

Being nosy, why would you go to Fl. for your unit,lazydays i suspect,where i buy at, when you have a huge dealer just south of Dallas,mhsrv.com. we're thinking of up grading to a diesel,would like your thought on dealers.. thank you
as a retired truck driver air compressors are made to do that,hopefully there's an air dryer in the system that will spit out condensation,as to how often, maybe every 5 min. it can be adjusted,i'd check for a leak first ...

To answer your question - I, like you, wanted to upgrade to a DP and man did I shop.... From my home state of Texas to NY to Arizona and finally Florida... (thank goodness for Internet)
I did shop various dealers in Texas (PPL and the dealer you mentioned) as well as many many more... I had a definite price range and was determined to not get "sold" out of it...
I decided to stay away from consignment type dealers for manly reasons, one being a lack of a worthwhile iwarranty

The sales staff at MHSRV was very unfriendly each time I tried to find out about a particular MH. If I'm spending a chunk of change for one I expect them to at least act interested.. (now I'm sure there are folks that probably weren't treated this way there. This is just my experience)
I finally found 2008 38' Forest River Berkshire with only 20K miles on it and the sales person went above and beyond to see that all my questions were answered. He even went to the trouble of doing a walk-around inside and out and taking a video as he did it.
They have a fantastic facility (128 acres) and really present the MH you're interested in...
Finally, I couldn't believe the deal I was able to work - MH was listed for $159,900 and I ended up getting it for $89,900 .. And best of all - WE LOVE IT!!!!

your tubo runs all the time your motor runs the more power you need the more boost you will see on your gauge

This is what I was told about the 'turbo boost' gauge. It has nothing to do with the turbo going off and on, it is turning all of the time. You simply don't want it to run high all of the time, on the truck I drive I try not to let it sit at 30 pounds long, I will simply get off the fuel pedal for a second or so to let it come down. Each engine is different, your may be set to run up to 35 pounds or higher.
