The rear one was always a 13.5 while the original front was 13.5 and the second one. The 3rd and 4th are 15. The main difference between the front and rear is that all the front ones had heat pumps while the rear did not. Don't know if the heat pumps contributed to the failures. Two failed while using the heat pump loosing the freon charge and the third had a noisy compressor which Dometic changed.

I have some A/C experience but mainly with large industrial units. Having the heat pump feature would not, IMO, make any difference. My local service guy showed me a letter he got via e-mail from Dometic about the failure's of their units. The letter stated that Dometic had contracted with a Chinese company to build some of their units. Dometic states that "a large number" of the evaporator coils on these units built had not been through the proper procedure used to rinse away any soldering residue and this was causing failures at certain soldered joints thus allowing a very slow leak of the refrigerant. I understand this. Sweating/soldering a joint using copper tubing and not cleaning the joint will leave some of the flux used in the soldering process on the joint. This flux is an acid and depending on how much of the flux remains on the copper tubing the flux will eventually eat into the copper tubing causing a small pinhole. I examined the evaporators onboth of my 15K units after they were removed and I did indeed see numerous soldered joints that I would certainly call improperly soldered joints, meaning that there was flux residue still present. Flux left on joints such as this will turn a dark brown/blackish color and then a green colored material will form on this area. This is "galvanic corrosion" which is simply the reaction of two dissimilar metal reacting to each other. Dometic has a problem that IMO they have not stepped up to address properly. IMO, they are replacing the failed units because the units are under a Dometic warranty. My problem is that Dometic is not giving an extension on their warranty for the replacement units. As has been posted on this forum Dometic gives a two (2) year warranty from the original date of purchase period. I'm on my third unit since buying the TT in January of 2015. The last unit replaced on my TT, last March, has only five months of warranty left. I do firmly believe that Dometic should warrant the replacement units for the two years just as the original units were warranted.

Truman I agree and also think they should stop having their A/C made in China. They do this they say to save money. Crap is crap and they don't lower the price because they saved money. Sure wish there was another choice.

FWIW most components of a/c units are made somewhere else. Labor and regulations dictate more profit.
