Can tell you from personal experience they do stabilize the trailer when being passed by semis, etc. If I ever went back to a tt, they would be on it.

The items that the OP has shown will do neither, they will induce drag, which helps to stabilize the trailer, in theory... this is all very basic aerodynamics, nothing magical or mysterious about it.
Would still like to see some test results...
