Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that they were using Gerard's until '15 or '16.

Not totally true they switched mid 15 model year but have changed out Gerard's to Atwood's on earlier model years instead of repairing mine included.

I have the Gerard (gen 1) in my '13. Looks like there are actually 2 versions of the gen 1. The early one like mine with the "auto" and "low" switch and then the newer gen 1 with the dial for control (at least that is what I thought I learned from the Gerard web site). Still haven't tried to use mine, but will be soon and hope it works.

Glenn, There is also the new Girard Gen III that requires a different access door and has been reviewed by this forum. It is not being installed by FR, but has been by some Berk owners.
This thread however has been addressing the Atwood recall.

I stopped by the Girrard booth at The Louisville show. I learned they have just initiated an upgrade special for those who want to upgrade to the Gen 3. Contact them directly.

If I remember correctly, it costs about $400 plus installation. Plus, the outside access door is different so that would need to be painted to match the paint scheme of your coach.

Hey Bob - when you go back today can you get Mike to confirm/deny if they are going to come out with a Rear Bath floorplan for the XLT?

Interesting, struggling with gen 2. Girard factory in Ca. Would sell me a gen 3 for $400. Is there really a difference in heater itself or just the controls? Hate to pull it out an set on shelf for no reason
Thanks

Thanks Hank, I realize that this is the Atwood recall. I was just making a general comment because the Gerard had been mentioned above.

This could explain the issue I had with a busted pipe just outside the Atwood heater...I'm glad they are doing a recall. I was stumped at how the water got that hot to melt the PEX tubing without tripping the high temp limit.

When we went back to pickup coach this morning, talked to Randy about recall. Not gospel, but as of now they have no idea how Atwood is going to
Address the issue. FR has not been notified of anyone being hurt in anyway because of the problem?

Hey Bob, my salesman in Elkhart told me that they do have plans for an xlt 43c, which I believe is an RB configuration. He said that he would send me info as soon as it became available. I will pass it on when I hear.

Well, crap... I just had my Girard Gen 2 replaced with an Atwood. (It's at the body shop getting the door painted today!) I just checked the model number/build date on the new Atwood and its been recalled.
I guess I will wait and see what they decide to do.
