Average height of our coaches???

Just curious, has anyone measured an exact height of their Berkshire aired up? Looking into garages...

I have a 12'6" door on the storage unit I rent for my motorhome. I can fit my 2012 390RB in if I let the air out of my air bags. I am looking for a storage unit with a 14 foot door.

Wow, over 12'6. Seems like the brochure had at 12'4".

The tallest piece on mine is the mini satellite dome (which is an add on over what the brochure would include). I measured it at 12' 7". I always use 12' 9" when figuring door or overpass requirements.

Same here.... I usually figure on 13 exactly, even though not quite that high. 12 7 to the top of my Winegard is about what I remember last time I measured.

I like the extra 5 inches of cushion. If the sign says less than 13 feet, I start to get concerned.

Boowho??

Word of warning ... that measurement can change dramatically if the unit is on an incline ... especially if passing along a dip while going thru an overpass.

I have on the occasions seen semi units hit the same rail bridge while passing under.

We also need to take into account the height of any vent covers that we put on. I Know that all of mine stick up above the account units.

Cheers

We measured ours on a completely flat surface with the air bags inflated. It took 2 people. We took a straught 8 foot aluminum bar and placed it on the highest point which was our rear a/c. We put a 4 foot level on the bar and measures from the bottom of the bar to the ground. It was exactly 13 feet 8 inches. We placed a printed tape above the radio with the measured clearance and also have the measurement in metric 3.89 meters as we occasionally go into Canada. We will not try anything less than 13' 5" as sometimes roads are repaved and they don't remeasure and change the signs

With our aftermarket covers on the fantastic fans, we top out at 12'8" but to be safe, I always call it 13'

BTW, AllStays has a GREAT RV app (Camp & RV) for the iPhone/Pad (Android as well I think) that lists all sorts of neat info INCLUDING routes that have low bridges - and you can filter out how low can you go

Finally, on the way back from Goshen, right after passing under a 14' underpass we spied a oncoming RV with the antenna still in the "upright and fully locked position"

No manner of light flashing and pointing got their attention

Observation 1: A raised TV antenna increases clearance substantially

Observation 2: Watching a RV go under a 14' underpass under "full sail" is the classic defination of Schadenfreude

Observation 3: A $300 Winegard HD antenna when violently seperated from a RV roof leaves a lot of road debris (thankfully no one was following closely)

Correction. The actual measurement was 12 feet 8 inches

had me worried too. even semis without a permit are allowed only 13'6". 13'8" must make your trips very expensive not to mention the route planning involved

I had previously measured mine to the top of my Wineguard dome at 12'9", so it sounds like we are all pretty acurate +/- and inch
