Awning breaking outside light wire

We have a Carefree awning and when extending it the last time, the control lever caught the wire (about 6" of wire was unsupported going from the coach to the awning) for lights as it went through it's motions during deployment. I found that it should have been anchored to the inside of the aluminum cover to keep it away from "moving" parts. I lost the outside door light as well until I repaired the wire.

I noticed that it looks a little sloppy up there. So far it's been working OK.
