Awning over door will not extend

I have a 2014 390BH and have been using it regularly since I picked it up in July. I was down in Daytona for a week at the track for the 500 and on my way home stopped for an overnight in SC. When I tried to put the awning out over the door, the motor was turning but the awning would not move. I put my hand on it and pushed it out while also holding the button and it went out. Tried to retract it and came in fine so tried to extend again and would not move. Did the same thing pushing it out by hand and using button and went out. So I left it out and relaxed with our friends that night and retracted it the next morning and once it came all the way in to the locked position, the button stopped working. When I press it I get nothing either way. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I have an appointment to drop it off for service on Friday but was still wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

Thanks

Jason

Sounds like the motor may have gone out. I had a similar problem where the awning would retract but when it got to the closed position, it made a grinding noise on my '08 and they said the motor needed to be replaced.
Good luck with the repair and it sounds like I should try mine out. I've had mine since mid October and as yet to use either awning.

I had a thread on my broken door awning last year. My motor became disengaged from the roller and wouldn't retract. Yours will probably be repaired under warranty but I would be curious of the cost to repair. I zip tied mine closed and am waiting on retirement to fix it.
Good luck

Dometic had a recall on the motors on some of their awnings last summer/fall. Don't know if yours is a Dometic or not, but if it is, this might be a place to start. You will need the S/N of your awning when you call the company.

Our 2014 Windjammer was one that was included in the recall, and our dealer replaced the motor for us. Initially, ours would go out, but would not retract. By the time we got home from the trip we were on, it would not work in either direction.

Good luck

Thanks Mike
I contacted Dometic to see what models are included in the recall. Two models, the 9100 and some other powered awning were included. The "over the door" Marquee was not. I will contact their customer service.

Will,
I believe that the awnings are Carefree of Colorado not Dometic. You should check to see which ones you have.

Did that catch in fire. It looks burned.

Yes it did , that is the limiter switch of the motor but you could not tell because it was in side the steel tube.
