Berkshire

Are the problems with new Legacy headlights also a problem on new Berkshires?

Saw a few people complaining that Legacy headlights were insufficient.

Yes, the Berkshires lights can be a little dim. Some owners have changed the bulbs to a Sylvania Silver Star 9006. It is a bright white bulb that supposedly makes a big difference. We haven't done it to ours yet, but DH planning on it.

Changed over to the SilverStar bulbs and changes from night to day.It is a very easy change reaching in thru the gen.opening.Just remember not to touch the glass part of the bulb as oil from your skin could cause the bulb to break when light is turned on and cooks the oil.It is just a matter of turning the base of the bulb to remove it from frame then unplug the harness, then reverse the process to replace.save the old bulb as a spare if one should burn out in the future. We do a lot of driving at night to avoid traffic between NJ and FL. and the new lights make it much easier to see at least 4 to 5 times the distance of the stock bulbs.

I changed mine to HID's & the difference was unbelievable.

The HID kits are more expensive than silver star but the results are worth it.

I got my kits from superbriteled.com. Just give the bulb number in your coach & thry'll send you the correct kit.

The kits take about10 minutes per light to install (depending on whether how you mount the amplifier).

I would like to upgrade our bulbs also. What vehicle did our headlights come from and what year? The auto parts store asked. We have the 2015 38RB.

Thanks in advance!

I found out just a couple of days ago that the Legacy headlights are from a 2007 and newer Chevy Silverado truck. Not sure if the Berkshire us the same or not. There us a very helpful young man at FR named Isaac Montgomery. Isaac is a great source for that kind of information. I do know also that when I looked at the back of the assembly in my Legacy, the replacement bulb number was stamped on the housing. Couldn't bend my head around there, but was able to reach in with my phone and snap a picture of it. Hope that helps some.

BamaBob, I think the correct web address is www.superbrightleds.com. Let me know if this is it and what they tell you for the correct PN#'s.

Thanks!

Bob, XL's and XLT's have different lighting systems than the standard Berkshires.

Thanks! That is good to know -- sorta surprised the feature list on the XLT does not mention this! (Are they HID?)

I'm not sure what HID's are. The lights on my XL resembles xenon.

Looks like we are in luck Paul - Xenon & HID (High Intensity Discharge LED) are about the same if not identical
