Berkshire coach sliding battery tray

Has anyone had issues with the battery tray not locking in properly? My coach tray won't push in all the way which is stopping the latches from locking.

I verified all wires are out of the way. Not sure if these had faulty slides? Slide moves freely from what I can tell with 4 batteries on it. Trying to avoid pulling everything apart if it's a simple fix.

check the wires again and make sure that they are position at the correct angle and are not contacting the back wall when the tray is pushed all the way in.

Mine latches just fine, I do have to "coax" it a little more when it is colder outside and the connecting wires are not as pliable. Do you notice that the latches are locking in the holes on each side when you slide it back or are they not making it back far enough? -Glenn

The slides are not making it back far enough to latch. I probably need another ½" to get them to latch. When the weather gets over 10° (hopefully this weekend) I will go back out and check the wiring again. My concern is one of the slides is screwed up and I will have to pull all the batteries and repair/replace.

Thanks gents for the input!
Randy

Hope it warms up soon for you. Please let us know what you find Randy. I am betting on something just being in the way of the slide. These things don't normally get enough use to go bad and they are pretty heavy duty slides. -Glenn

Battery tray

Last year on my Charleston I went to check the house battery water level and noticed that only the right side latch was latched. One of the battery cables was drooped down behind the back two batteries and not letting the tray close all the way. I moved the cable and the tray closed just fine. I had it serviced at Freightliner six months prior so the tech must have not noticed only one latch was in, I noticed it as soon as I opened the door.

I just wanted to follow-up and close the loop on this. I found the rear slide rubbing when pushed in. This is due to the coach rising up in the back and the tray being installed level. When pushing it in the tray would stop dead on a bolt. By prying it up slightly it would clear the bolt and slide in the rest of the way to lock position.

FYI- it's much easier to figure it out when it's 70° out compared to 10° out! The only thing cold in my hand was a beer.

Thanks to all for the assistance and advice!
