Berkshire XL 40A?

Have any of our members seen/purchased/driven this unit? 360/380 engine? This is the first floor plan for which I might trade my 5th wheel so would like to know if there are any members who have observations to share.

All I can say is I like that A floorplan a lot. It would be the one I would buy if I upgrade to the XLT. They are just hitting the sales lots so you may not find anyone on here that has one.

Google the RV Supershow in Tampa, Florida. We went last year and it is an awesome show! Maybe they can tell you what they have listed to be on display this year. (January 13-17). Usually they have a list of all of the dealerships that will have displays at the show, you could call those dealerships and see if they can tell you what they will be bringing. For the RV show at the Ponchartrain Center in Kenner, La. last year we called the dealership (Dixie RV) and they were able to tell us what models they planned to bring to the show. (No, we didn't buy from them. We bought our Berkshire from Motorhome Specialists in Alvarado, TX).
I am sorry I couldn't be of more help to you, good luck in your search.
Karen

Thanks for the info. Hadn't thought about checking what would be at the shows. Motorhome Specialists has a couple in inventory, but didn't want to make that 350 mile trip if someone had already had a bad experience with the unit. May make the trip anyway.

Was your experience with MH Specialist good, bad or neutral? Last time I was there all the salespeople were driving Escalades, which gave me pause at the thought of buying another one for them.

Check with Berryland Campers in Hammond, LA. They have a 380 but it's a BH floor plan. Might be closer to you.

Hi RubberNail,
We had a great experience with Motorhome Specialists! They gave us a loner car to use for the 4 days we were there (a 2015 Equinox but one of the other loaners was an Escalade!). We even used their car to drive into Dallas to go to the JFK Museum (which was fantastic). Our new MH was parked under a cover right next to our old coach so transferring items to the new coach was simple and easy. Our tech for our PDI was very knowledgeable and never made us feel rushed. We discovered a problem with one of the windows and 1 phone call was all it took and 2 techs showed up to fix the problem! Our salesman was Mitch Bennett and he said if we sent him a buyer he would take another $500.00 off the price of the coach they wanted to buy. We ordered our Berkshire which made sure there was no foot traffic or test drives on it before we got it. Mitch was really great to work with, no pressure sales and MHSRV gave us a very fair trade in value! (In fact they beat a local RV dealership by $14K on trade in value). The drive from Pearl River to Alvarado, TX wasn't bad at all, and we were able to stop at the Tiger Truck Stop in Lafayette on the way home and see Tony (a real live tiger).
Here is Mitch's contact info: Mitch Bennett Mitch@mhsrv.com 800-335-6054 or his cell 817-437-6679. Tell him the Stevensons 11157 sent you.
MHSRV had the best price on the coach we wanted to buy. They were 4 K cheaper on the 2016 38A than the price a local dealership had on a 2015 38A!! And they gave us a nice bottle of wine, a huge doormat, a new coach set-up kit (which included a sewer hose, toilet paper, a water hose, water connector valves and tank drop-ins), and a really nice 75 piece tool kit. Then on Saturday while we were there they invited us over to their main building for free hamburgers and hot dogs! While we were eating the owner of the dealership came over, introduced himself and said if we had any problems to call him directly and he would take care of it.
So yes, if we were ever in the market for another RV, yes we would go straight to MHSRV! We were VERY pleased with our experience!
Good Luck, and feel free to PM us if you have any other questions. Always happy to help.
Karen

Kevin -

Just get the XLT and your weight issues will be over forever

(That XLT can really tote *and tow* a LOT of Stuff!)

Karen that's good one and I suffer from the same affliction. DW likes to keep in fat for some reason.

Bob, the XLT is on my to do list. But I can't let someone else buy my Berk while it has not had the upgrade done. Once I get that squared away I will get serious about our LAST moho.

Okay. Visited Motorhome Specialists and saw the 2016 Berkshire XL 40A. As advertised, and have option for 360 ISB or 380 ISL. Wife liked the 38A, and about $35k less money, but less GVWR and 340 ISB only. So either way, likely a while before I get my nickels together!! Then we'll see - but I really liked the 40A..
