If the gray tank sat above the black water, you could get a much better black flush.

There are two huge issues with your question;
1) It is against the law to ever have the chance of mixing them, i fully understand your new question (well they do it in a house) but the sanitary laws are different.
2) why not stack, this is simple (not enough room, well as you might look like there is room in a large motorhome, there for sure is not in a trailer, so all the companies just build them one way.
