Black Water Flush

Ahhh, interesting. I always wondered how effective those tank flush nozzles were. If they are like that, that's better than I thoght they would be.

I think it is the unit at http://www.amazon.com/Camco-40126-To.../dp/B000BUU5TU Available from Walmart for $20. If so, this unit did not get very good reviews, as far as efficacy of operation is concerned.

Also, specific to the Berkshire, does this replace the factory-installed unit, and if so, I have not read here that anyone has been successful in accessing the factory unit for service or repair - how did you do it, or is it installed some other way?

And Speedmerchant:
I don't plan on buying the nozzle - just looking at one to see how to service it (run piano wire from the outside connection to clean the nozzle orifices?). The original one can't be accessed, as far as I know. Also, I suspect it's a design fault, and replacement wouldn't do much good.

That is the one I installed in my gray tank. As a gray tank flusher, it is adequate to remove hair/soap buildup in conjunction with Unique RV-Digest-It treatment.

The OEM one works better in the black tank. The water back flowing is NORMAL as there is a vacuum break above the tank somewhere in your rig and all the water from the vacuum break to the hose connection has to run out when you disconnect.

The Vacuum Break is required and keeps black tank liquids from siphoning out as you slosh down the road. Mine is located under the vanity sink in our 5th wheel.

I recently filled my black water tank with warm (almost hot) water and after fifteen minutes drained it while pressuring the spray nozzle. The results (as previously reported) indicated that what I thought was "clean" really wasn't. The only error I made was that I forgot to use a water supply regulator on my home water supply, so the spray nozzle was pressured to 60 psi. When I was done, I had a lot of water on the floor of the compartment where the water connections are (the "cotter pin door"). I'm guessing that I had a temporary leak at a fresh water hose clamp, and intend to repeat the process with the pressure regulated to 45 psi to see if I still get the water. Does anyone have any ideas as to the source of the water?
