Blank tank flush

Anyone ever had their tank flush nozzle clogged??? I hooked up the water hose and hear nothing! Usually hear the water spraying quite loud...

Jason,
Sounds like the back flow valve on the flush is clogged or broken. I believe that this issue has been posted about before. Should be easy to replace.

Jason, we had the very same thing and they checked the check valve, we were at the rally and they replaced it but it still didn't work and they found it was the actual sprayer at the tank that was clogged and they said it was corrosion but we had only taken possession of the MH in April and this was August and our campground in the summer is on a well with hard water. Mike runs a water softener but he didn't used to for the black rinse now he does

so another option to look at!

I had the same thing happen, water barely coming out. I removed the sprayer and reamed out the holes to a bigger size. I used a regular drill bit, can't remember the size bit, but all I did was use a bit one size bigger than the holes. It's very easy to remove, drill out and replace.

One tip if you decide to do it. Once I had the sprayer out I hooked up to water to check how much water came out. Then once drilled I sprayed again and it was much more water coming out.

I had the same issue this past summer. I left the hose connected to the black water flush with the water turned on The water was at full pressure as coming from the faucet (no pressure reducer). After about 1 1/2 hour I heard the water to start running through the flush tube. It eventually totally cleared and and has not given me any problems the rest of the summer. Have you tried to just give it time under pressure?

Just a semi related point here--don't forget to winterize those black tank flushers. I would have totally neglected that if someone here hadn't pointed it out.

Jason, on the PS side in the compartment where the water pump is located. The black tank sits above the FW tank. There is a panel that needs to be removed, mine had three screws holding it. Once you remove that panel you will see the flusher. I believe it has 4 screws holding it to the tank. Back those out then simply remove the nozzle. It has some black silicone type stuff as a seal. I just used some clear silicone when I replaced mine. It's a 30 minute job.

I'm not sure why you need to blow out the black tank flush. Isn't it open (I know there is a spray head) on the end in the tank and if it were to freeze, wouldn't the water just be pushed out the spray nozzle end?

Not to sure. I hear no water spraying in the tank and I do not hear water pouring in either. I'll try and pull it out and see if it is clogged up. I was dry camping in the infield of Charlotte and pretty sure I was quite full. Then I drove it a few hundred miles before I dumped so maybe something clogged it up.

I wonder if you could and a delimer like CLR or something stronger to the hose before hooking up to the back flush. If it's a lime build up that should clear it. You can buy a professional acid delimer from a GFS store or a restaurant might sell you a quart or so. Restaurants use it for their dishwasher and ice machines.

How do you winterize the black tank flusher? My coach had been winterized already but I just did a final empty and flush of the backwater tank. Was wondering if I can and should get some antifreeze back into the flush/rinse hookup for the black water tank now.

I would suggest a blowout plug and compressed air for the black tank flush. Dont know if there is any other way.

X2. That's all I did to mine, I don't see the need to pump AF through it manually. I guess you could if it made you feel better. Just make sure to open your black tank dump valve either way (compressed air or AF) so you don't blow out your tank--just like when you're using the flusher.

That's what you would think, but the owner of my dealership told me "you wouldn't believe how many units we've had come in here with the tanks blown out from not opening the valve when using the flusher." I know, it doesn't seem to make sense. But I'm not taking any chances. Mine even has a warning sticker on the flusher inlet to open the valve before use. So there ya go...
