Buzzing thing

Guys,

This device in the electrical bay under the driver seat of my 2009 Berk is running incessantly and causing a buzzing sound. Do you know what it is?Click image for larger version

So. Vacuum pump for the dash AC? Mine seems to be stuck in the “on” position, as it runs constantly without regard for climate control setting. Is there some kind of control unit or brain for the thing?

Any idea if this is a common part, or do I have to work with FR?

Thanks for any insights!

It is a common part and you might find it at an anti parts store. Skip

If it's running all the time, there could be a vacuum leak in the system some where. These typically have a shut off built into them once the vacuum desired is reached, if there's a leak somewhere, it can't pull a vacuum and so it constantly runs. Check the vacuum hoses, connections etc.

I do have a slow AC refrigerant leak. Would that cause this issue if the refrigerant has leaked out completely over the winter?

the Freon is a closed loop system not related to the vacuum pump which opens and closes dampers to direct the air to different vents. (floor, dash, defrost)
