Carefree Awning o-ring keepers on the tractioners

These things keep breaking (dry rot) and I am tired of replacing them. Does anyone have a better solution?

No. I've never seen that part. I will try to get up and check mine but three years and I haven't changed anything like that.

They are pretty small. About the size of a 12 gauge copper romex wire. I guess I could try a metal/wire loop and twist it tight.

It is actually an O-Ring that holds it together (the "keeper" in the diagram)

I noticed they were broke last summer and I'm not sure how long it had been that way. I found some replacement O-rings at Home Depot and replaced them. Now I check it everytime I let the awning out and they are always broken. I think I have replaced them 10 times.

Maybe I should order them from Carefree and see if they last longer.

EDIT: Holy Smokes they are $5 each... A 10 pack is $3 at Home Depot

Try E-Bay. I put in rubber o-rings in there search and there's all kinds, pretty inexpensive. Lot's of different size packs but if you keep scrolling you'll see individual sizes, just not sure what size ( besides small ) you need.
