Cargo Door Damage (Propane)

I was the happiest person in the world for about a half hour today. On Friday, I removed our winter cover for the Berk.
Today (Sunday) I wanted to take it out for a short drive and let things get a coat of oil on them.
It was great driving down the highway with a huge smile on my face, anticipating the trips that await us this summer.
Then I got home.
At the top of my driveway I have to make a 90-degree turn to the left to get it on the concrete pad. On the left side of that pad is a pile of dirt still covered by snow. Unbeknownst to me, simultaneously, the cargo door for the propane tank opened and the left front tire slide on a patch of ice, and the coach went off the pad, jamming the now open cargo door into the pile of dirt. Needless to say the door is crumpled beyond repair. I dont' think there is any other damage by the hinges.

Here is my dilemma: I don't yet know how much that door cost to replace and match with the colors. Can they be purchased from forest river painted?
Has anyone had to replace one and know the cost? That would help me decide if I want to claim it on my insurance or bite the bullet.

Thanks

I had slight damage to the waterbay door and the one immediately in front of that. The insurance adjuster quoted $3400 for both including the 3 color paint job. That was for completely new doors. Rather expensive i think.

I dented the door to my water bay on my '08 a couple of years back. I contacted Randy and Andy (parts guy), gave them the measurements and they said that they had to order the door. They did and they painted it with the base color. Don't remember if the propane door is solid color or has part of the design on it but when I went to the Rally that year, I had to go to the factory so that could match the design and install the door. They did a great job and it cost me around $600 at the time. This was almost 2 years ago so not sure what it would be now.

My new purchased Berk has a damaged door. It is being replaced under warranty but painting is being done at the dealer. I asked why the door was not being painted by the factory made sense to me but did not get an answer.
One note make sure you give them year and floor plan for your unit. The dealer gave them door measurements and guess what they made it to a different floor plan yep will not fit. Replacement door is suppose to be arriving this Tuesday.

Hi Kenny,

I think Forest River get their doors from these people. You may want to give them a call and see if you can buy direct.
