Casino RV parks
Just wondering how many people have gone to casino rv parks around the country. What are the good and bad things that you liked about them? Do you like the ones that are more family friendly or more adult oriented?

We stayed in a couple. One was even a horse track. Camp grounds were neat and clean. Good place to eat. Casino was close enough to walk to but far enough from any noise. The one in OK with the house track was neat watching them exercise in the am. Dogs were like, What kind of animal is that?

We’ve only stayed at one- the Casino Queen RV Park in East St. Louis, IL. It was expensive at almost $50/night for full hookups in a glorified parking lot. But it gave us a great base for exploring the area.

Traveling this past summer we stayed six nights at Dakotah Meadows RV park just outside of Minneapolis Minnesota. Great park and a wonderful casino (no winnings here). They have fuel for both Diesel and Gasoline and an rv wash that my 13' tall 5er went through very easily. We would stay there again. Mostly adults from what we seen but we did see children riding bikes a couple of times.

Overall, we have found them to be nice and affordable.

We stayed at the Coeur d'Alene Casino in Idaho while on our way to Alaska. It just had a paved parking lot with 30A/50A electric hookups--no water or dump, but it was free before July 1. We got water at a nearby gas station and dumped at the very nice, multilane, paved dump at the Sheriiff's office in the town of Coeur d'Alene (donation only). We would stay at that casino again if we were in that area.
The Isleta Lakes Casino just south of Albuquerque on I-25 also has a very nice RV park, but it is definitely not free. Last spring, it was $33/night with the Good Sam discount for a full-hookup site. Sites are gravel, but the road is paved and sites have a view of the Rio Grande, the golf course, and several fishing lakes.
Between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, we have also stayed at the COE campground at Cochiti Lake. Not a casino (it is at Cochiti Pueblo), but has paved sites with 30A/50A electric and water hookups and a separate dump. We had a long, pull-thru site there last year for $10/night with our Federal Senior pass.
We also stopped at the Ute Mountain Casino RV Park when we were in the Mesa Verde NP area of CO a couple of years ago. But its FHU sites were $40/night and the nearby McPhee Recreation Complex had 30A sites with available water and a dump for $18/night with our Pass, so we stayed at McPhee. McPhee is also right next door to the BLM's Anasazi Heritage Center, a not-to-miss collection of artifacts that give you a hands-on archaeological experience.

We have stayed at Traverse Bay RV Resort in Traverse City, MI. Free shuttle bus to the casino next door. Several years ago it was $80.00 a day.

We stayed at Hollywood Casino and RV Park two summers ago when our grand daughter had a softball tournament in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. The park is Good Sam rated. Rates start at $35.00 per night as stated in the website, but I don't recall how much we paid. Twenty-four hour casino. Lazy river and pool, which the kids loved. Some trees, but mostly sunny sites. We enjoyed driving the coast and eating at restaurants in the surrounding areas. We stayed there because some parents needed hotel accommodations and some of us were camping to save money and because we had TTs.

Just checked their website. $69-85 depending on the time of year.
MH must be less then 10 years old. Will allow some 5th wheels on a case by case basis. No TT under any circumstances.

I have stayed at 3 casino's. Winstar Casino in Thackerville Oklahoma, Ameristar Casino in Vicksburg Mississippi, and Diamond Jacks in Bossier City Louisiana. All had concrete pad site with full hook ups and reasonably priced from $25.00 to $32.00.

That place has been discussed in these threads before. As I recall, it's mostly purchased/leased "lots;" they take in passers-thru on an as-lots-may-be-available basis; hi-rollers only need apply.

Have stayed in a few of them on the west coast. Most have been very nice with FHU with 30/50 amps. Some have a shuttle to/from the casino. DW likes them because they usually have a good buffet, at least the ones we've been to. They want you to stay and gamble so you'd expect most of them to be fairly decent. Look for reviews and comments online before staying at one. Some only have daytime parking for RVs.
Stayed at the GSR hotel RV park in Reno and it was awful. It's more like just a place to hook up and sleep. Expensive for what it was. You could look across the creek (or whatever it was) and see homeless camps on the other side. Happened to be when the Burning Man celebration was on. Lots of weird people and weird RVs...
Stayed at the casino in Redding, CA and it was pretty good (except flippin' hot out). The 7 Feathers casino on I5 in OR is excellent. Have been to a few in WA and one in ID and all very good.
Not a casino RV park, but we stayed at a Thousand Trails in Las Vegas a couple of miles off the strip on Boulder hwy and it was pretty decent. There was a KOA just up the hwy. Circus Circus has an RV park but haven't used it.

We have stayed at numerous casinos for free. No hookups just boondocking like at Wal-Mart. We go in get a player's card then head over to the security desk. We tell them we are traveling and will be playing for awhile at their casino. We ask if we can stay overnight and if there is any special place we should park. We have always been told it was OK and where to park. However none of the casinos we went to had an actual RV park so They may not allow boondocking at those. It's always been quiet and we have always been left alone. We will gamble a bit and usually spend some time at their restaurant.

We stayed at the very nice Gold Ranch RV Resort on I-80 just west of Reno, NV. Concrete-paved sites, asphalt roads, pool, grass between sites, some tree-shaded, FHU sites for $36/night with GS discount. Our well-maintained, scenic, back-in site in a back corner was quiet and secure, with the wind in the pine trees making for great sleeping. We only went in their very small casino to have a fast food lunch and get diesel for our truck at the attached gas station. Just down the highway was a big Cabella's store that had a couple of RVs, but don't know if they were dry camping.

It’s about the same price now as it was. There are lots of specials to reduce the price. Like stay 4 nights get one free. The park is beautiful and is mostly owned lots. It’s definitely not a campground and is a RV Resort. We own a lot in the park and love the area. Traverse City is definitely a place to visit.

We have two casinos near us. Foxwoods and Mohegan sun, both in CT. Foxwoods put a gas station in the area where the RV lot used to be. Mohegan has a huge lot that will accommodate about 200 RVs with dry camper no and a 24 hour a day shuttle to and from the casino.
In our travels, we have stayed at other Casinos. One in Michigan, can't remember the name. Stayed at Presque Isle in PA. The one we really like is Turningstone in Verona, NY. They have their own campground and a free shuttle,to the casino.
Casino camping while traveling is very inexpensive (if you win or don't lose). Sometimes, we just take the rig for the day too. Casino camping has been very interesting for us. Met lots of people, won some money and have been able to stay where we want and leave when we want.

Thanks for the answers. I guess my next question is would this be a good investment for casinos? Do the majority of campers spend money in the casino or restaurants? Would there be an incentive for the casinos to invest in an RV park?
